WHAT IS CYBERSECURITY?

Cybersecurity refers to a set of techniques used to protect the integrity of networks, programs and data from attack, damage or unauthorized access.

According to Forbes, the global cybersecurity market is expected to cross $170 billion by 2020.

The core functionality of cybersecurity involves protecting information and systems from major cyber threats. These cyber threats have many forms (e.g., application attacks, malware, ransomware, phishing, exploit kits).

LATEST NEWS AND TRENDS

  • Businesses will require to adopt comprehensive security awareness programs, which may include investing in phishing simulators that explain various emerging patterns or devious modus operandi of modern-day phishing attackers.

  • 2019 will require revamping endpoint and device security strategies, which begins with overhauling traditional defences with more advanced EDR (endpoint detection and response) capabilities for zero-day malware and other advanced threats targeting the endpoint devices.

  • 2019 will be more critical than ever to roll out user awareness training to sensitize and empower users with a greater sense of ownership for overall corporate IT security.
