Chowkidar - Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) System
Description
TTSPL`s Chowkidar Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) is a sophisticated optoelectronic technology that transforms a standard fiber optic cable into a continuous, high-density array of virtual microphones. By launching coherent laser pulses and measuring the Rayleigh backscatter, the system detects microscopic physical strains caused by external vibrations such as footsteps, vehicles, or mechanical activity. This allows for 100% real-time monitoring, event classification, and precise localization over distances exceeding 50 km. Because the sensing element is entirely passive, it requires no field power and is completely immune to electromagnetic interference (EMI), making it an ideal solution for pipeline integrity, perimeter security, and railway safety applications, such as elephant detection.
